The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic was first confirmed in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on 5 March 2020, with the first positive case in Ghaziabad. As of 30 April 2020, the state has 2211 confirmed cases . On 30 April 2020, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also directed officials to add 52,000 additional beds in the Covid-19 hospitals in the state.
